Advanced Video Game Design (Day Camp)


Dates: August 7th - 11th, 2017

High School: Students entering grades 8 - 12 or older.

Are you into video games? Do you have an idea for a video game you would like to build? Have you attended video games camps at NIU and want to take what you have learned to the next level?  Are you interested in meeting professional video game designers to ask questions about what is like to work in the industry? The Digital Convergence Lab is offering a one week summer camp open to students ages 13 to adult (younger students must have attended a prior game camp and get permission from the camp director, Michael Swope, interested in building or expanding their video game design skills using professional video game design tools, programming, and 3D graphics. 

Participants will:

  • Meet professional video game designers
  • Play popular video games - yes we play games!
  • Learn scripting languages
  • Build assets in 3D
  • Build a landscape
  • Animate objects
  • Program a playable game

Time:  New hours - M-F 10AM to 4:30PM.

Students are asked to bring a lunch. 

Fees for participation in this day camp are $250.
