Minecraft Virtual World Designer with Python


Description

Are you interested in Minecraft, block and Python programming, modifying skins, 3D development or video games? This fun online workshop helps students develop skills in coding, problem solving, graphic design and teamwork.

We’ll use the Minecraft Education Edition, which is available on Windows, MAC, iPad and Chromebook. Your login will be provided on the first day and will work for the duration of the course.

Instruction will include a combination of live online interactions with NIU faculty and staff, along with recorded videos and downloadable step-by-step instruction.

In this workshop you will:

  • Build 3D worlds in a community server
  • Learn the basics of coding logic
  • Use block coding and Python to program in Microsoft MakeCode
  • Code the Minecraft Agent to build, dance, and more

Time: 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm

Location: This is an online workshop delivered by Northern Illinois University, Digital Convergence Lab. To access this workshop you will need a stable internet connection and a computer that meets the computer hardware and software requirements. Students will receive a login to an online webinar tool and the learning management system before the start of workshop.

  • Computer Mouse (For PC, MAC, and Chromebook)
  • Headphone with microphone capability
  • Webcam
