Minecraft Virtual World Designer (Online Camp)
Dates: June 28 - July 2, 2021
Audience: This camp is recommended for students grades 5 - 9.
Are you interested in Minecraft, block and JavaScript programming, modifying skins, 3D development or video games? This fun online camp helps to develop skills in coding, problem solving, graphic design and teamwork.
Instruction will include a combination of live online interactions with NIU faculty and staff, along with recorded videos, and downloadable step-by-step instruction.
Skill level: Beginner to intermediate
In this camp you will:
- Learn the essentials of game design
- Invent game goals and rules
- Storyboard game scenarios
- Build 3D worlds
- Program with Microsoft MakeCode
- Apply textures
- Script objects to animate movement

Time: 12PM to 4PM
Location: This is an online camp delivered by Northern Illinois University, Digital Convergence Lab. To access this camp you will need a stable internet connection and a computer that meets the computer hardware and software requirements. Students will receive a login to an online webinar tool, the learning management system, and Minecraft for Education before the start of camp.
